Share
Tuesday, September 23, 2025 – Groupe Abbatiello announces the acquisition of L’Œufrier, a Montreal-based breakfast restaurant chain founded in 1995 and operated until now by Groupe La Büff. The banner, which includes 47 restaurants across the province, will now join the Abbatiello Group’s brand portfolio, alongside Pizza Salvatoré, Jack le Coq, Topla!, and Crèmerie Chez Mamie — a move fully aligned with the Group’s accelerated growth strategy.
“L’Œufrier has stood out in the breakfast category with its unconventional, humor-filled marketing and constant nods to current events. For our family, acquiring L’Œufrier is about much more than buying restaurants — it’s about welcoming a culture, a bold tone, and a brand personality we admire. My brothers, sister and I, along with the entire team, are excited to write the next chapter of this story alongside the franchisees. We are grateful to the sellers for placing their trust in us,” said Élisabeth Abbatiello, Partner and Vice President of Communications and Outreach at Groupe Abbatiello.
Growth in Continuity
Since its inception, L’Œufrier has opened nearly 50 locations across Quebec. The Montreal-based chain has enjoyed steady expansion, nearly doubling its store count over the last five years. Its brand recognition is well established, with more than 60 new franchis applications currently underway.
“Twenty years of building this beloved Quebec brand with passion and care. We are proud to hand over the reins to such an exceptional family-run company, one that will ensure a vibrant and lasting future for L’Œufrier,” stated Pedro Medina,
President and CEO of Groupe La Büff.
Ambition and Family
In recent years, Groupe Abbatiello has reached multiple growth milestones, including receiving acquisition offers. While some were compelling, the family ultimately chose to push forward.
“We’re having fun, we’re doing it as a family, we’re surrounded by a passionate team, and we’re still young. We grew up in restaurants — we know this business inside out. Since taking over the family company, we’ve gained maturity and experience, and everything feels a little simpler now… especially when dealing with bankers!” added Élisabeth Abbatiello with a smile.
The acquisition of L’Œufrier is part of the Group’s ongoing effort to fast-track its development while strengthening a network of distinct, community-rooted brands.
